Our own native wildlife – sometimes not too far from the front door – can be as beautiful and exciting as the more exotic kind.

I enjoy drawing and painting squirrels, rabbits etc, as much as I do big cats and wolves, especially because I see them almost every day in their own environment in the wild, becoming very familiar with them and their behaviour.

This will be a ‘first’ in the many workshops I have run over the years – one of our local squirrels in pastels in velour.

While this will be a treat for those who have already been to my pastel workshops, it is also a chance to learn how to use pastels on velour for those who haven’t tried the combination before.

In-depth step-by-step tuition will guide you through the stages of this increasingly popular medium, which produces lovely soft textures for any subject; especially so in the case of this enchanting study of ‘Mr Nutkin’ out and about gathering stores, ready for winter.

The combination of a soft, almost blurred, background with the squirrel and foreground branches in sharper focus will create a lovely painting for yourself, or even a special gift for a friend or loved one.

All materials and light refreshments are included. Please bring your own easel if you need one as well as your lunch.
